He is Professor emeritus at the Department of Intelligent Handling and Robotics at Vienna University of Technology focusing intelligent assembly and disassembly, industrial automation, service robots as well as robot soccer.

Besides that Peter serves as Secretary of IFAC Beirat Austria (International Federation of Automatic Control) and ÖGART (Austrian Society for Automation and Robotics), as Rector of a Private University in Kosovo. He has received three honorary doctorate degrees at different international universities as well as the prestigious Engerlberger award. Peter is member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering as well as corresponding member of Saxon Academy of Sciences.

Finally, Peter authored and co-authored 6 books and more than 200 scientific publications.
